What it is and how it works
Semax is a synthetic peptide derived from an ACTH fragment with an added peptide sequence. The cited research tested immune- and vascular-related gene expression after experimental cerebral ischemia in rats. That context is substantially different from healthy-person focus or productivity claims.

Animal study
This label describes the selected source below. It is not a complete ranking of the literature, a safety score, or an approval status.
- Study or assessment
- 2014 — Semax gene-expression study in rat cerebral ischemia
- Design
- Genome-wide transcriptional analysis in an experimental rat model.
- Who or what was studied
- Rats with experimentally induced focal brain ischemia.
- What was observed
- Semax altered expression of genes associated with immune and vascular processes.
- Limits of interpretation
- The study does not establish improved cognition in healthy people or a clinically appropriate intervention for stroke. It is a selected preclinical example.
What the evidence means
A proposed cognitive effect is not the same as established treatment effectiveness.
Approval and regulatory context
Not an FDA-approved cognitive wellness medicine.
Safety and uncertainty
Safety evidence for proposed routes is limited.
What remains uncertain
The connection between molecular changes and durable human benefit requires direct research. Results in a disease model should not be repackaged as evidence for a different population, condition, or product.
These summaries are introductory and are not a complete account of the literature, adverse effects, contraindications, or interactions. Absence of a listed risk does not mean absence of risk. Different compounds, formulations, and routes cannot be treated as interchangeable.
